Notice of Race
We are looking forward to hosting the second race in the
series!
Well, we love to roll out the welcome mat at Pacific Yacht
Club but as you know, base access can be an obstacle.
However, it's VERY easy if people let us know in advance
that they're coming. They just have to email Linda
Ladeira, PYC's RC for Sail (ladeirabl@hawaii.rr.com)
the full name and date of birth of anyone (over ten
years old) that will be coming on base. We will submit the
Event's guest list to security. It takes at least one week
for them to process the requests and issue event passes.
Then we can have pre-printed event passes available at the
Hickam Main Gate Visitors' Center.
We won't have anyone available at the main gate to sign in
last minute visitors.
The deadline is Wednesday May 12th.
Anyone driving onto the base should keep in mind they need
current license, registration, safety inspection, and proof
of insurance.
Okay whew! On to the good stuff. . .
We have eight Capri 14.2 dinghies available for use. We
will use a round robin format if we get more than eight
teams signed up. We can change down to smaller jibs if it's
windy, also have the option of reefing the mainsails.
Everyone needs to wear a lifejacket. We have a collection
of life jackets at Hickam the sailors can borrow if they
don't have their own and l'll bring a few extra from
home.
We would definitely like skippers to choose a crew before
race day, to keep things moving time-wise. The schedule is
kind of tight, especially if we do round robins.
We will host a gala after the races!
